I think it's healthy (as both an individual and in terms of cultures/communities) to come to terms with unrequited love and love stories that don't end in romantic relationships. People grow in and out of feelings sometimes, it doesn't always work out, and feelings are't always shared. It's not the end of the world. It can often be part of a full and healthy life. No one does anything wrong by not sharing or reciprocating feelings. Sometimes feelings can end in friendship or just moving on, and that's okay. That can be good. You can have true, meaningful feelings and still be respectful about them and move on from them.
I feel like, in the context of this particular website, this has really impacted and infected shipping. I totally get wanting to see characters come together, but it's treated as the end-all be all and characters entire arcs and being are pushing into their potential romantic relationships. I feel like I used to be more shipping of characters without really wanting them get together in canon or exploration of fictional relationships that don't last as still meaningful, and I see less and less of that. It all just becomes about people getting together and living happily ever after, and it's often pre-supposed that getting together is the only way of living happily ever after.
Idk. Maybe it's the arospec in me, but anyone who follows me knows I'm as romance-positive as any arospec can be. I've been in a romantic relationship for nearly 4 years now that means so much to me, but that doesn't mean that romance/romantic feelings are a simple thing or that they're the be-all, end-all

I think people should be allowed to sleep in the same bed in a non sexual and non romantic way. I think cuddles can happen non sexually and non romantically. I think most acts of affection are non sexual and non romantic until you make it sexual or romantic (other than the obvious things like actual sex is sexual)

Why would I care if other people my age are dating? Other people my age are in jail.
Stop pushing your heteronormative ideals on me, I just want to watch silly cartoons and cuddle with my cats.

You use "arospec people can still date and feel romantic attraction " as an excuse to ship cannon aro characters , I use it as justification to headcannon characters who canonically feel romantic attraction as arospec , we are not the same

everybody in fandom could have so much more fun if they started playing around with aromantic identities more. why is it that the only time a character is headcanoned as aromantic, they're headcanoned as aroace. why is it that the only aspec microlabels ever included in headcanons are the asexual ones. there are so many characters that would be infinitely more interesting to interpret as aromantic or aro-spec. ask me about it. ask me about it

People shipping aroace characters because “uuu there’s no angst if no ship uuu” well fuck that because remember the “what the fuck is wrong with me” angst. Remember the “oh fuck this person likes me but I don’t like them back” angst. The “should I pretend to date this person so as not to hurt their feelings” angst. The

The response to "ace people are just virgins who can't get laid!" Shouldn't be "ace people can still have sex!" but instead " being a virgin isn't a bad thing."
The response to "aro people are just heartless freaks!" Shouldn't be "aro people can still feel love!" And instead be "not feeling love or other emotions doesn't make you a bad person."
Instead of pushing the idea that aspec people can be "normal like allos" we should instead be trying to normalize aspec experiences. Yes aspec people can be normal because aspec identities are normal. Some aros fall in love. some aces have sex. but they should not be the only valid aspec experiences. We should not use these experiences to make the aspec identity more palatable to amatonormativity and allos.

I want a relationship where I can cuddle, love, cook for, basically just do what people would consider couple stuff with a person, but it's completely platonic. Like I love you, we hug we love, but there's no romantic attraction involved. Pls tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way.

sure "romantic" isn't the only type of love but also "love" isn't the only type of positive feeling. So maybe stop insisting everyone needs love to be happy and accept that loveless ppl exist? Pretty please?
